औली में एशिया के सबसे सुंदरतम बर्फीले ढलान हैं यहां स्किंग के लिए देश विदेश से हर साल हजारों लोग आते हैं, उत्तराखंड का यह सबसे बड़ा स्कीइंग सेंटर है जहां एशिया की सबसे बड़ी रोप- वे भी है लेकिन इन खूबसूरत बर्फीले ढलानों पर अवैध रूप से बनाया गया क्लिपटॉप नाम का होटल यहां की सुंदरता पर एक बदनुमा दाग है। इस होटल को बड़ी जालसाजी के साथ यहां बनाया गया था जोशीमठ की तत्कालीन बहादुर SDM निधि यादव ने इस गंभीर आपराधिक मामले का संज्ञान लिया और बड़े अपराधियों पर मुकदमा दर्ज कर दिया, एक ईमानदार अफसर की निर्भीकता और कानून के प्रति जवाबदेही रंग लाई। यही केस चमाेली जिला मजिस्ट्रेट के न्यायालय में विचाराधीन था। इस होटल के निर्माण के लिए उपयोग में लाई गई 31 नाली भूमि 19 मार्च 1976 को इंद्र सिंह के नाम लीज पर कृषि कार्य के लिए दी गई थी। 11 अक्टूबर 1996 में इंद्र सिंह के पुत्र विजय पाल व पौत्र अरूण पाल ने औली लग्गा सलूड़ डुग्रा के खसरा नंबर 18 में दर्ज इस भूमि को बिना सरकारी अनुमिति के ही स्की एंड स्नौ रामनगर के मालिक अतुल शर्मा को 99 वर्ष के लिए लीज में दी गई। इस भूमि में क्लीपटाप क्लब के नाम से आलीशान होटल है। 2010 में तत्कालीन जोशीमठ के एसडीएम निधि यादव ने लीज शर्तों
के खिलाफ होटल निर्माण को लेकर जिलाधिकारी को रिपोर्ट भेजी थी। जिलाधिकारी ने भी निरस्तीकरण की संस्तुति देकर गढ़वाल कमीश्नर को फाईल भेजी थी। कमीश्नर ने डीएम को मामले में आगे की कार्रवाई के निर्देश दिए थे। 20 सितंबर को जिला मजिस्ट्रेट आशीष जोशी ने फैसले में क्लीप टाप क्लब की 31 नाली भूमि का पट्टा निरस्त करने के निर्देश दिए, जिला मजीस्ट्रेट ने होटल के ध्वस्तीकरण के साथ भूमि को सरकार में निहित किया है। जिला मजिस्ट्रेट के निर्णय के बाद तहसील प्रशासन ने कार्रवाई कर औली में क्लीप टाप क्लब के 31 नाली में बनाये गये निर्माण में होटल के कमरों को सीज कर दिया है। औली में सीज कर दिया है। एसडीएम योगेंद्र सिंह ने कहा कि औली में क्लीप टाप क्लब को सीज करने के बाद अग्रिम कार्रवाई भी अमल में लाई जा रही है। एसडीएम जोशीमठ ने कहा कि होटल को सीज करने से पहले इस होटल में ठहरे लोगों को बाहर कर अन्यत्र भेजा गया । यहां यह भी गौरतलब है कि 2010 में तत्कालीन एसडीएम निधि यादव ने इस होटल पर ध्वस्तीकरण की कार्रवाई भी की थी। तब होटल मालिक के उंचे रसूक के चलते उन्हें स्थानांतरित कर दिया गया था। इस होटल के चलते ही औली के स्कीईंग स्लोब को बदलना पड़ा था।
यहाँ होटल स्टार सुविधाओं से सुसज्जित होने के चलते बड़े लोगों की पसंद था। होटल स्वामी की उंची पहुंच के आगे अधिकारी भी विवश थे। मगर अब फिर से लेकिन अब फिर से चमोली में आशीष जोशी जैसे ईमानदार DM आने के कारण शातिर अपराधियों की ऊंची पहुंच भी कोई काम नहीं आई और इस होटल के ध्वस्तीकरण के आदेश हो गए। ये होटल भले ही कुछ ऊंची पहुंच वाले और रईसजादों के ऐशो-आराम की जगह बना है लेकिन समझा जाता है कि वन्य जीवों के अंगों की तस्करों के तारों के साथ ही इस होटल का प्लास्टिक कूड़ा और यहां से होने वाली गर्मी गंदगी का औली के बर्फीले ढालानों पर बहुत बुरा असर पड़ता है, यहां के पर्यावरण पर इसके विपरीत प्रभाव को देखते हुए अनेक बार पर्यावरणविद् भी इस होटल के औचित्य पर सवाल खड़े कर चुके हैं। अब यदि सब ठीक-ठाक रहा और कानून ने अपना काम किया तो बहुत जल्दी ओली की सुंदर ढलानों पर अवैध रूप से काबिज ये बदनुमा दाग साफ हो जाएगा। यदि ऐसा होता है तो यह एक उपलब्धि ही होगी अन्यथा हमने विकास का मतलब कंक्रीट विकास का मतलब कंक्रीट के जंगल उगाना और अपना प्राकृतिक पर्यावरण नष्ट करना समझ लिया है।

Against the construction of the hotel, the report was sent to the District Magistrate. The District Magistrate also sent the file to the Garhwal commissioner by recommending the cancellation. The commissioner had directed the DM to take further action in the matter. On 20th September, District Magistrate Ashish Joshi has instructed to suspend the 31 storied land lease of Kleip Top Club in the verdict. District Magistrate has confiscated the hotel with the land in the government. Following the decision of the District Magistrate, the Tehsil administration has sealed the rooms of the hotel in the construction of the Kleip Top Club constructed in 31 drains in Auli. Sealed in Auli. SDM Yogendra Singh said that after clearing Clip Top Club in Auli, advance action is also being implemented. SDM Joshimath said that people lodged in this hotel before being seized and sent to elsewhere were sealed. It is also worth mentioning here that in 2010, the then SDM Nidhi Yadav had also taken action against the hotel. Then he was transferred to the hotel owner due to his high interest. This hotel had to change the skiing slab of Auli as soon as possible.

Being fitted with hotel stars facilities was the choice of older people. Officers were also constrained beyond the height of the hotel owner.
