यदि सब कुछ ठीक-ठाक रहा और सरकार ने सहयोग किया तो बहुत जल्दी उत्तराखंड के पर्वतीय जनपदों के जंगलों में तेजी से फैल रही बासिलो, बासिंडो, काला बांसा, बाॅटेनिकल नाम यूपेटोरियम (Eupatorium) पौधे की एक प्रजाति अब दुनियां के लिए मुसीबत बने कोरोना वायरस को जड़ से खत्म करने की दवाई के रूप में बाजार में आ जाएगी। यह दावा अमेरिकी फार्मेसिटिकल रिसर्च कम्पनी के रिसर्च आफिसर ने किया। 
इस पौधे की कैमिकल प्रोपर्टीज कोरोना वायरस केे इलाज करने के लिए सक्षम है। बासिलों या बासिंडो उत्तराखंड में बहुतायत उगने वाले इस पौधे की पत्तियों को पीसकर के लोग बहुत पहले से ही कटे हुए स्थान पर उसके रस को डाल कर एंटी सैप्टिक व घाव भरने के लिए करते रहे हैं, इसकी पत्तियों का रस तुरंत घाव को भर कर हील देता है। यही नहीं इस पौधे की पत्तियों का रस एंटी एलर्जिक, एंटीसेप्टिक , एंटीफंगल और anti-inflammatory होता है, ऐसा हम लोग बचपन से जानते रहे हैं।

लेकिन आपको यह जानकर आश्चर्य होगा कि चमोली जनपद के भेरणी ग्राम के चक ल्वैंठा निवासी रोहित ममगांई पुत्र प्रकाश ममगांई द्वारा अपने शोध निदेशकों के निर्देशन में काले बांस की एक प्रजाति का उपयोग प्रभावी तरीके से कोरोना वायरस की दवा के रूप में विकसित किया गया है। सीडीआरआई (Central drug Research Institute Lucknow) लखनऊ से भी इस प्रयोग को जांचा परखा गया है। इस विषय में उनके रिसर्च पेपर दुनियां की जानी मानी रिसर्च मैगजीन ने स्वीकार किया है। रोहित ममगांई का कहना है कि” हम एक मोलिक्यूल पर काम कर रहे हैं जिसने COVID-19 के खिलाफ प्रोटीएज अवरोधक के रूप में जैविक गतिविधि दिखाई है। इसमें मोलिक्यूलर-डॉकिंग विधि का उपयोग किया गया था।
